Erik Spiekermann

Born May 30th, 1947, Erik Spiekermann is a German typographer and designer. Between 1972 and 1979 he worked as a graphic designer in London. Then he returned to Germany and formed MetaDesign with two partners. In 1989 he and his wife started FontShop, the first mail-order distributor for digital fonts. They designed systems for clients like BVG, Dusseldorf Airport, Audi, Volkswagen, etc. In 2001 he started UDN (United Designers Networks) with offices in Berlin, London and San Francisco. In April 2009 Erik Spiekermann was awarded Honarary Doctorship for his contribution to design.

Erik Spiekermann has designed a lot of different typography fonts that are famous and are used everyday a lot in the world. His fonts are used for logos that are recognizable all over the  world.
